A&W Restaurants, Inc. is a chain of fast-food restaurants distinguished by its draft root beer and root beer floats and burgers. Its origins date back to 1919 when Roy W. Allen opened a walk-up root beer stand in Lodi, California. Allen’s employee Frank Wright partnered with him and founded this first restaurant in Sacramento, California, in 1923. The company name was taken respectively from the initials of their last names—Allen and Wright. The company became famous in the United States for its “frosty mugs,” where the mugs would be kept in the freezer and eventually get filled with A&W Root Beer before they were served to customers.

A&W Restaurants Reviews
A&W Restaurants is a great place to go if you want some good, fast food. I had my first experience with them when I was in 4th grade at an amusement park. I don’t remember the name of the amusement park, but one of the rides included a stop at this A&W location. I ordered a mushroom burger and it was fantastic! The cheese curds squeaked, just like they should have. One of my favorite destinations is this particular A&W. My family loves it too, so we are always looking for an excuse to stop by for lunch or dinner. The
A&W I went to had great service and a cute atmosphere. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger combo with onion rings and root beer. My server was awesome and my food came out quickly, but it wasn’t anything special for A&W’s standards. The mushrooms were just fine, but the onions were not seasoned at all and tasted like they fell straight from the can into my basket. The onion rings weren’t crispy or any good either. The only thing that met my expectations was the root beer because it is always served in those frosty mugs!
I remember coming here as a kid! The milkshakes, root beer floats and burgers are good quality fast food. Service is quick and the prices are reasonable for what you get. My favorite menu options at this restaurant are the root beer floats, they come in a frosty mug and they’re delicious. I also like their burgers which are served with cheese curds and fries.
They have a lot of both burgers and other foods too. I don’t think there is one thing in particular that stands out for me when it comes to what they offer. It’s all pretty good in my opinion and, for the most part, it is all well made and tastes fresh. The price ranges from $5-10 for a meal which is relatively reasonable in my opinion, so I would say it is worth checking out if you are in the area.
I love root beer floats and A&W is one of the few places that offers them. I’ve seen others mention that their menu has changed; however, I was pleasantly surprised to find many options for both adults and children (a rare thing in fast food). My husband had onion rings instead of fries (he says they were great) and our son had chicken strips with honey mustard sauce (he loved them). I settled on a chili cheese dog which did not disappoint. It was fairly hot when it arrived at my table but very delicious! The service was quick – much appreciated when you have two kids in tow. We will definitely be back again!
